1. Between being very smart with no new ideas, and being less smart but always having new ideas, most people would choose the latter;
2. Beyond intelligence, discovering new ideas requires independent thinking, which is rare;
3. In fact, writing helps nurture new ideas. Often, it’s not that you have an idea before writing, but that the ideas become clearer as you write.
