Daily Productive Sharing 1095 - A Message From the Past
One helpful tip per day:)
Recently, while organizing backups, I came across many old photos and suddenly felt that the past was incredibly beautiful. Morgan Housel had a similar feeling, but he offers a different explanation:
- Looking back at 2009, he had just graduated, was with his then-girlfriend (now wife), bought a house, and was enjoying life without children;
- On the other hand, during that time, the U.S. economy was in a terrible state following the 2008 financial crisis, and Morgan was actually very anxious, worried about losing his job and not being able to pay his mortgage;
- So, when we look back at the past, we tend to remember only the best parts. The past may not have been as perfect as we recall, the present may not be as bad as we think, and the future could turn out better than we expect.

最近整理备份的时候,看到很多老照片,突然觉得过去的日子非常美好。Morgan Housel 也有类似的感受,只是他有不同的解释:
- 回看 2009年,他刚毕业,和当时的女友(现在的夫人)在一起,买了房,没有孩子,尽情享受生活;
- 而另一边,时值2008年金融危机之后,美国的经济非常差,Morgan 其实非常焦虑,担心自己失业,还不起房贷;
- 所以当我们回看过去时,往往只记得最美好的那些事物。但过去其实并不一定像我们记忆的那么美好,当下也不一定像我们想象的那么糟糕,未来也可能比我们预期的还要好。
