One helpful tip per day:)

Should you follow your interests or passions in your work? Paul Graham shares his insights:

  1. People pay you to do what they want, not what you want—unless you both want the same thing;
  2. If you want to earn a lot of money, it’s best to do something that interests you;
  3. If you’re unsure which path to choose, it’s often because you’re overlooking something: you might not know what makes you happy, what kind of work you enjoy, or what you’re good at;
  4. After leaving school, no one will tell you what to do or how difficult it will be;
  5. How do you deal with uncertainty? By actively seeking clarity, so doing what interests you is a good choice;
  6. Discovering what you should do may take a lot of time, so it’s best to start early;
  7. If you find work that interests you, you’ll likely be surrounded by people with similar interests, which can make it all the more enjoyable.

到底要不要追随自己的兴趣/激情去做事?Paul Graham 给出了他的见解:

  1. 人们付钱给你做他们希望做的事,而不是你希望做的事。除非你们希望做的事同一件事;
  2. 如果你想赚很多钱的话,那么最好做让你感兴趣的事;
  3. 如果你不知道自己要选哪条路,那通常是因为你忽略了一些东西:你不知道什么让你开心,你不知道你喜欢什么样的工作,你也不知道自己能做好什么样的工作;
  4. 离开学校之后,不会有人告诉你应该做什么,也不会有人告诉有多难;
  5. 如何面对不确定性?主动去寻找确定性,所以做你感兴趣的事就是一个上佳选择;
  6. 明白自己应该做什么可能需要耗费你许多时间,所以越早开始越好;
  7. 如果你找到了自己感兴趣的工作,那么通常你也会被同样感兴趣的人所包围,那将非常有意思。
