  1. Everything has a list price (surface cost) and a real price (what you give up to get it). Make sure you're willing to pay the real price for what you want in life.
  2. That feeling of uncertainty, fear, and discomfort is usually a sign of growth.
  3. Structure frees up your headspace to focus on execution.
  4. Reread your favorite books annually.
  5. Observe your boss, figure out what they hate doing, learn to do it, and take it off their plate. This adds value, builds momentum, and positions you for long-term success.
  6. In the short run, being exceptional is harder than being reliable. In the long run, being consistently reliable makes you exceptional.
  7. Data in, story out. Master storytelling, and you'll always be valuable. .
  8. Avoiding a hard conversation creates a debt that must be repaid later, with interest.
  9. Review your photos weekly and send them to the people who appear in them. It sparks conversations and helps you stay in touch with old friends.
  10. As you get older, it's easy to lose contact with people. Take lots of photos and log memories—they will be cherished forever.
  11. When someone is going through a hard time, simply saying “I’m with you” is the most powerful thing you can do.
  12. A simple compliment can make someone's entire day.
  13. If you feel the urge to act on strong emotions, wait 24 hours. Many relationships have been ruined by heat-of-the-moment actions.
  14. If someone says something interesting, write it down. It's more polite than using your phone and shows you're actively listening.
  15. If an investment or financial opportunity seems too good to be true, assume that it probably is.
  16. To eat healthier, do your shopping on the outer perimeter of the grocery store where fresh produce, meats, fish, and dairy are located.
