1. Equally important as persistence is knowing when to quit, acknowledge failure, and accept that your plan didn’t work out.
2. The nature of disruptive entrepreneurship is that an idea should initially seem a bit absurd; otherwise, it likely lacks a truly counterintuitive core.
3. This is why even the world’s best venture capitalists make more mistakes than correct bets. It’s not because they aren’t smart, but because no one can consistently predict future disruptive changes.
4. The ability to walk away in time and preserve energy for the next opportunity applies not just to startups but also to personal projects, work methods, and decision-making.
5. The problem is that "almost works" sometimes does work, but at an immense cost, often making the effort not worth it in the end.
6. Some ideas show just enough progress to keep founders barely afloat for years, but they ultimately end up trapped in something that almost works but isn’t worth a decade of their life — a tragic pitfall.
7. Perseverance and pushing through difficult times are essential traits of successful people. But having the awareness to abandon a bad bet that started out good may be just as important.
