One helpful tip per day:)

In this era filled with overwhelming information, how should we respond? Ryan Holiday suggests distancing ourselves from TV and social media:

  1. Today, we are not only drowning in fake news but also overwhelmed by excessive information—there’s simply too much noise.
  2. If you want to make a positive impact on the world or just maintain your sanity, you need to step back.
  3. The problem is that breaking news isn’t designed to truly inform you—it’s designed to grab and hold your attention. By nature, these reports are incomplete.
  4. Almost everything on the news and social media is deliberately crafted to provoke and manipulate emotions. Their very purpose is to distract you.
  5. In a nonstop cycle of opinions and outrage, when your brain is constantly bombarded by those seeking your attention, how can you find the time to truly think and reflect?
  6. When he feels physically unwell—tired, irritable, sluggish—it’s usually because he’s been eating poorly. Likewise, when he feels mentally scattered and unable to focus, it’s a sign that he needs to clean up his information intake.
  7. If you want to truly understand the present, studying history provides a much clearer perspective.
  8. What he continually strives to do is ground his thinking in reality and seek a broader, more contextualized perspective.
  9. There is a trade-off here: by choosing to be intentionally ignorant of meaningless noise, we can see what truly matters with greater clarity and set our priorities accordingly.

在这个充斥着各种消息的时代,我们应该如何应对?Ryan Holiday 的建议是远离电视,远离社交媒体:

  1. 今天,我们不仅被假新闻淹没,更是被过量的信息所困扰——信息太多,噪音太多;
  2. 如果你想对世界产生积极影响,或者只是想保持理智,你需要适当抽离;
  3. 问题在于,突发新闻的目的并不是为了真正让你了解情况,而是为了吸引并占据你的注意力——这些新闻本质上都不完整;
  4. 新闻和社交媒体上的内容,几乎没有任何不是刻意制造来激怒和煽动情绪的。它们的存在就是为了分散你的注意力;
  5. 在无休止的观点和愤怒情绪中,当你的大脑被试图吸引注意力的人轮番轰炸,你怎么可能有时间去真正思考和反思?
  6. 当他身体不适——疲惫、烦躁、无精打采时,通常是因为他吃得不好。同样,当他感到精神涣散、难以集中时,那意味着是时候清理他的信息摄入了;
