  1. If you’re visiting one museum near Tokyo, make it the Railway Museum in Ōmiya. His favorite area was the model railway zone, where he got to drive a miniature train with realistic controls while his two kids rode behind him. The museum’s central hall features over a dozen full-sized trains—some with reconstructed platforms, others open for exploration.
  2. The SCMAGLEV and Railway Park, located on the Tokaido Shinkansen route between Tokyo and Kyoto, is highly accessible. It showcases the next-generation maglev system—the future "Chūō Shinkansen"—which will cut travel time between Tokyo and Nagoya from 90 minutes to just 40.
  3. Kikkoman, the world-leading soy sauce brand, offers public tours at its factory in Noda.
  4. ASOBono!, located inside Tokyo Dome City, is one of the best indoor play areas they've visited—super convenient to access.
  5. The Tokyo Toy Museum stands out for both kids and adults. Unlike typical plastic-heavy exhibits, it features wooden toys and warm aesthetics, creating a distinct sensory experience.
  6. KidZania, an international chain theme park, lets children role-play various careers in a highly realistic setting.
  7. Overall, Tokyo is even more family-friendly than New York or London. The real appeal lies in its kid-focused attractions—many of which offer generous public subsidies, making them both fun and affordable.
