Daily Productive Sharing 1248 - Thoughts on Thinking
One helpful tip per day:)
Every time Dustin Curtis sits down to write a blog post, code, or start a new project, the same thought creeps in: In the age of AI, is this all just a waste of time? That thought is terrifying.
- Writing is how he thinks—how he shapes opinions and works through arguments. Over time, writing helps him generate more and better ideas.
- Thinking is compounding—the more you do it, the stronger it gets.
- But his thinking systems are atrophying, and he can feel it—his intuition, cleverness, and intellectual rigor have all dulled.
- Since AI can effortlessly expand on any idea, he feels less inclined to express his own—whether or not the ideas are fully formed.
- Crafting a prompt feels like scrolling through Netflix. Reading AI output feels like watching a show.
- Intellectual rigor comes from the journey—the dead ends, the uncertainty, and the inner debates.
- The real exercise for the brain comes from building the output yourself.
- Ironically, he now knows far more than he ever did before AI—but he feels slightly dumber. A little more dull. Slower.
