Although we are taught from childhood that we should not be afraid to ask questions and that we can ask any questions. But the truth is that how to ask questions and what questions to ask require a lot of skills. Fernando Gros is even insightful, as he considers one of the dumbest questions to ask:

"Given what you know now, what would you have done differently? "

Why?

  1. to ask this question does not require any knowledge of the other side , almost a non-brainer question.
  2. secondly, this question assumes that the other's achievements are not good enough, so 'what would you have done differently' lacks the most basic respect.

A better approach would be to dig harder into the other person's feelings and experiences so that you can perhaps get a deeper answer.

“Given what you know now, what would you have done differently?”
