Daily Productive Sharing 011 - [荐书] Thinking in Systems

One productive tip per day:)

(The English version follows)

A system is more than the sum of its parts. It may exhibit adaptive, dynamic, goal-seeking, self-preserving, and sometimes evolutionary behavior.
Systems can be nested within systems. Therefore, there can be purposes within purposes.
Stocks allow inflows and outflows to be decoupled and to be independent and temporarily out of balance with each other.
A single stock is likely to have several reinforcing and balancing loops of differing strengths pulling it in several directions.
Many of the interconnections in systems operate through the flow of information. Information holds systems together and plays a great role in determining how they operate.

如果实在没有时间, 可以直接翻阅这本书最后的 Summary of System Principles,短短几页就把全书的精华归纳了。

As we had a survey yesterday regarding the preference of our recommendations. One response suggested that we can have more book recommendations. So here we are, we will try to recommend a productivity-related book each Saturday.

Today’s recommendation is Thinking in Systems. Technically, this is not a productivity book, but a science book about systems. However, as many productivity books suggest that building a systems is an efficient way of changing habits or improving productivity, reading such a book will surely be helpful.

Here are some excerpts from the book:

If you really don’t have time to read the entire book, you can jump to the Summary of System Principles in the Appendix.
