Daily Productive Sharing 106 - How to Consume News Wisely?

One helpful tip per day:)

(The English version follows)

#todo #time_management

当我们在手机/电脑上阅读新闻时,时间不知不觉就流逝了。回头一看,好像什么也没有收获。今天的分享中,作者建议:

  1. 用阅读书籍/写作等活动替代新闻阅读;
  2. 限定阅读新闻的时间;
  3. 如果需要追踪某一领域的进展,最好的方法是在 Twitter 上追踪该领域的专家。

以我自己的经历而言,也有一些可以分享:

  1. 在手机上卸载所有的新闻类 app;
  2. 如果一定要装新闻类 app,关闭推送,关闭小红点;
  3. 可以利用系统内置的时间管理来限定新闻类 app 的使用时间;
  4. Apple book 的打卡时间很好用,去年我的最长连续阅读天数是162天(每天至少半小时),希望今年能打破这一纪录;
  5. 可以使用 Nuzzel 来看看你在 Twitter 上关注的人都在分享什么,非常高效;
  6. 可以用轻芒阅读来订阅公众号,然后在微信内取消关注这些公众号。如果你想使用它的 pro 功能,欢迎使用我的分享码“知其所以然”。

You don’t get as much done as you want, and your soul slowly drains out into that screen.

There exists a balanced news diet that results in learning useful things while allowing for enough time to be productive, and also keeping your soul.

If you are giving yourself a set amount of time to read news every week, you’ll need to do it efficiently in order to learn what you want from it.

If you care about being on the lookout for virus outbreaks, the best thing I know of to do is follow epidemiology experts on Twitter.

Building lists of experts on Twitter is actually the best way of keeping up to date on fields with even a moderate level of technical complexity.

When we read news on our phones/computers, time passes by without us realizing it. Looking back, it seems that nothing has been gained. In today's sharing, the author suggests:

  1. replacing news reading with activities such as reading books/writing.
  2. limiting the amount of time spent reading the news.
  3. if you need to track progress in a particular field, the best way is to follow experts in that field on Twitter.

In my own experience, there are also some that I can share:

  1. uninstall all news apps on your phone.
  2. if you must have news apps, turn off push and turn off the badge count.
  3. use the system's built-in time management to limit the use of news apps.
  4. you can use Nuzzel to see what people you follow on Twitter are sharing, which is very efficient.
