最近听一位朋友聊起她的故事。前阵子，她度过自己四十岁的生日，刚刚订婚。
从三十岁到三十五岁，她单身了五年，一心在事业上。三十五岁的某一天，她突然想要有个孩子。这是她当时最想做的事，为了这些，其他都可以靠后。尽管那时候她事业有成，有足够的财力，唯一的问题是单身。
于是她和老板请了假，跑去美国找前任，看看有没有可能复合。在美国呆了一个月，复合没有成功，回来之后还丢了工作。她倒也无所谓，毕竟她的第一要务是想要孩子。
很快，她加入了另一家公司。她也见了不同的男生，有两个让她觉得有可能走到婚姻的那一步。她与其中一位约会了六个月，最终没走到婚姻的那一步。而另外一位就是与她刚订婚的。
回头来看，她觉得一切都值得，尽管经历了很多波折。
